Enlist Corn is Here! See it First at Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show

The Enlist™ weed control system is now commercially available to Canadian corn growers after recently receiving import approvals from both China and the EU.

Marty Vermey, Enlist Marketing Manager at Dow AgroSciences says, “Enlist traits and Enlist Duo herbicide have been fully approved in Canada since 2013. We’ve been anxiously awaiting these export approvals so we can make this valuable technology available to corn growers, and soon to soybean growers.”

The Enlist system is a combination of seed traits and herbicide. Enlist Duo™ is the herbicide portion of the system and it combines glyphosate with a new formulation of 2,4-D choline with Colex-D technology. It delivers added benefits over older formulations, such as near-zero volatility, reduced drift and low odour.

Enlist corn will be available as both SmartStax® Enlist and PowerCore® Enlist hybrids, offering an industryleading package of weed control and insect protection. PowerCore provides the best control of above-ground pests available on the market.

Growers can order Enlist corn from their local Dow Seeds Seed Partner and Enlist Duo from their crop protection retailer.

Canadian farmers value the benefits of Enlist corn

Weed control challenges have grown steadily worse since the first glyphosateresistant weeds were discovered in 2001. According to a 2016 Stratus Ag Research study, resistant and tough-to-control weeds currently infest more than 100 million acres of North American farmland. To meet farmers’ needs for additional weed control solutions, Dow AgroSciences developed the Enlist weed control system.

“We need this system. We are running into resistant weeds and Enlist Duo is a product that we can use to really smoke them,” says John Baitley, a farmer from Prince Edward County Ontario, who has grown Enlist corn and applied Enlist Duo herbicide as part of a stewarded program.

Growers can have confidence with Enlist Duo’s on target application and excellent performance without impacting neighbouring sensitive crops. As always, growers must read and follow label directions.

Dow AgroSciences is ready for full commercialization of Enlist Roundup Ready 2 Yield® soybeans and Enlist E3™ soybeans, and is considering options for the 2018 season as it awaits final import approvals from China and the European Union.
