Crop plots and new products at show to bring fresh options to the farm

Woodstock, Ont., August 30, 2023 – When it comes to decisions on the farm, seeing products firsthand in the environment they are intended for is a great way to evaluate something new. Crop plots featured at Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show on Sept. 12-14, 2023 provide a side-by-side comparison for farmers to evaluate crops and products all in one place.

According to Doug Wagner, Director of Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show and Discovery Farm Woodstock, the farm show focuses on providing an up-close look at products, new technology and crops to bring these products to life in the field for thousands of farm visitors who attend the show every year.

“In the crop area alone, we have fifteen companies with plots growing at Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show, featuring different seed varieties, plant health and crop protection products,” says Wagner. “There are so many new developments in crop innovation, and Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show provides a convenient place for farmers to see the new options and pose questions to the industry leaders who are at the show.”

Plots at Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show feature crops such as corn, soybean, wheat, forages (alfalfa and more), alternative crops (adzuki beans and sesame), and a “Trees on the Farm” woodlot featuring hazelnut, pawpaw, biomass willow and more. A list of participating companies can be found here. Wagner notes that the farm show’s crop plots are just one way for farmers to get an inside look at what’s coming in future years.

Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show visitors can also join the daily “Off the Beaten Path Demonstration Research Tour” at 10:00 a.m. or 2:30 p.m. for a tour of the latest in innovative farming solutions research from Discovery Farm Woodstock partners. More on the tour can be found here.

For new products beyond crops, farmers will want to check out the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA) Innovation Pavilion for the latest technology from startups and entrepreneurs. Companies featured include Agrilog, BioLiNE Corporation, CAAIN, CATTLEytics Inc., Clean Works, Grain Data Solutions, Haggerty AgRobotics Company, Innovative Farmers of Ontario, OMAFRA, Turnkey Genomics, University of Guelph, and RHA Ventures/RH Accelerator with their portfolio of companies featuring inspiring agriculture and food technology. Visitors can also watch for signage at Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show indicating the 2023 Innovations Program winners in each of five categories for the latest products that advance the agriculture industry.

Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show is set to feature other popular attractions such as equipment demonstrations live in the field, the Livestock Central area, and special events that focus on networking and connecting farmers, AgTech companies and entrepreneurs.

The annual event takes place Sept 12-14, 2023 at Discovery Farm Woodstock, and is Eastern Canada’s largest outdoor farm show. To find out more about what is happening, visit outdoorfarmshow.com.
