  • After some major renovations this spring, including a 20’ addition and floor plan redesign, the Dairy Innovation Centre will be showcasing the Lely Astronaut A3 Milking System and the DeLaval Voluntary Milking System, VMS in a live side-by-side demonstration. The Cover-All Dairy Innovation Centre will be divided in half with both robots located in the centre and operating simultaneously on two herds of 35 cows each.     Celebrating Healthy Living Expo – Presented by Foodland Ontario

  • The growing popularity of the “Local Foods – Buy Local” movement amongst consumers and the hospitality/tourism industry means that some farm families might be rethinking the benefits of this type of diversification. Local Foods Exhibits will be amalgamated with the former Organics and Women in Ag Expos to focus on encompassing the concept of healthy living. The Federated Women’s Institute of Ontario will stage 20-minute speaker presentations that are guaranteed to educate, inspire and entertain audiences. Topics will include growing local, exotic and organic produce, seasonal eating, fitness/active living, and home decorating. There will also be a large food preparation trailer in the Expo that will host a variety of cooking demonstrations. Located on the North Mall at 2nd Lane Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show “Celebrating Healthy Living” Expo is a must see in 2009.

  • This spring Grober Nutrition will begin research on its first group of young animals including calves and kids. The six-month research program will centre on nutrition, housing and overall health of young animals, culminating in September at the 2009 Show. Visitors to the Show will see feeding and housing trials in progress showcasing technologies from Germany & Italy, as well as results from previous groups of young animals reared in the facility.

  • Britain's leading expert on lameness is Dr. Blowey, who is sponsored at the Show by Provita. Author of several books, he share his expertise by offering twice-daily discussions entitled "Stawberry Foot CAN Be Controlled," focusing on strategies to control digital dermatitis in dairy cows.   • The Ontario Agricultural College (OAC) has a long tradition of working with farmers and the Agri-Food Industry by tackling current issues and researching solutions. This year, OAC reinforces that tradition by bringing to Canada's Outdoor Farm Show a full schedule of extension talks by OAC faculty. Click here for a schedule.

Consequently, the OAC will be recruiting for the best and the brightest youth who have a vision to solve global challenges through agriculture.   • Tuesday, September 15th is 4-H Day when any member or volunteer with a valid membership card will be admitted free of charge. Representatives from 4-H Ontario will officially open the 2009 Canada's Outdoor Farm Show at noon that day at the Ginty Jocius Memorial Waterfall.
