    GROBER YOUNG ANIMAL DEVELOPMENT CENTRE

  • Next to the Lely Innovation Centre is the new home of the Grober Young Animal Development Centre. With research scheduled to start in April 2009 and results to be showcased at the 2009 Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show, this year will provide a glimpse into plans for research on calves, lambs and other young livestock.

  • Housed in another Cover-All building at the southeast corner of the Show, Gencor will feature a Dairy Daughters Display and interactive exhibits from Gencor industry partners.

    VIP DAIRY PRoDUCERS’ BRUNCH

  • A VIP Dairy Producers’ Brunch will be held on Thursday, September 11th from 9:00 to 10:30 am in the Special Events Tent by the Ducks Unlimited Wetland Pond. This networking opportunity is “by invitation only” and sponsored by Ontario Large Herd Operators, Gencor, Masterfeeds / Lake Country, Norwell Dairy Systems, DeLaval, Grandview Concrete Groving, and Farm Credit Canada.

  • The new open-air marketplace on the south end of 7th Lane will feature industry equipment and services, as well as feed and management technologies / services to assist poultry producers from the broiler, layer and turkey sectors (no birds on-site).

  • Beef Breeds Pavilion will feature 10 of the most progressive association, showcasing animals that best represent their breed traits.

  • The second annual Canada’s Outdoor Commercial Beef Cow/Calf Pair Auction will take place on Tri-Auction Thursday, September 11th and will offer producers an opportunity to select from 20 of the best beef cow/calf pairs (heifer calves) to upgrade traits in their commercial herds. Silent bids are acceptable during the Show leading up to the live auction.

    CANADA’S OUTDOOR ROBOT-READY DAIRY HEIFER AUCTION

  • In response to demand for heifers trained on robotic milkers, the demonstration herd at the Show will be auctioned a noon on Thursday, September 11, in the Lely Innovation Centre, using electronic RFID tags and hand-held reading and recording devices to keep bidders informed on pedigree & milking data.

  • With interest growing in this category, sheep handling will be featured with interactive demos on advance record keeping, using electronic RFID tags and hand-held reading and recording devices.

    NEW! 20 Acre Solar Pumping & Grazing Demo

  • The Lely Voyager automatic grazing system will be shown for the first time in North America. With two solar-powered, self-propelled and GPS-guided robots, it eliminates the need to move fencing for optimal grazing. Solar-powered fencing from Kane and Gallagher will be featured, while the Kelln Solar Pump will move water over 2,000 ft. to paddocks.
